Fender production: Thermal bonding XPE manufacturing process
Products Description
Our foam-filled fenders are manufactured with the advanced Thermal Bonding XPE Manufacturing Process, a premium production technology that redefines the structural stability, impact resistance and durability of marine fenders. This process adopts high-quality Cross-linked Polyethylene (XPE) as the core raw material and uses precise thermal fusion bonding technology to form an integrated foam core structure without adhesive bonding, eliminating the risk of delamination, cracking or performance degradation of the core material caused by traditional bonding processes.
Core Advantages of the Process
Integrated Structural Strength
Thermal bonding fuses XPE foam layers at the molecular level under controlled temperature and pressure, creating a homogeneous, dense foam core with consistent physical properties throughout. The integrated structure ensures the fender can withstand extreme radial compression (up to 60% deflection as required) and repeated marine impact loads, with no internal separation or structural failure.
01
Superior Impact Absorption & Energy Efficiency
The thermally bonded XPE foam core features a closed-cell structure with uniform cell distribution, which optimizes the energy absorption performance of the fender. It effectively dissipates kinetic energy from vessel berthing and mooring, reduces reaction force on hulls and dock structures, and fully meets the industry's strict requirements for energy absorption and reaction force tolerance.
Enhanced Durability & Environmental Adaptability
02
Enhanced Durability & Environmental Adaptability
The thermal bonding process improves the XPE foam's resistance to seawater, corrosion, UV radiation and extreme temperatures (-40°C to 80°C). The foam core is non-hygroscopic, non-degradable and maintains stable physical properties for long-term use in harsh marine environments, extending the service life of the fender by more than 30% compared with conventional foamed core fenders.
03
Precision & Consistency
Our production line is equipped with automated thermal bonding and molding equipment, with precise control of temperature, pressure and bonding time. This ensures that every XPE foam core is manufactured to strict dimensional and performance standards, with minimal batch-to-batch variation, and fully complies with marine fender specifications for foam core apparent density, tensile strength and elongation.
