What can Airbag be used?
Deflated cylindrical marine airbags are juxtaposed beneath the vessel's keel prior to launching operations. Upon pneumatic inflation, these airbags generate buoyant lift to elevate the vessel, thereby enabling the clearance of subsurface impediments. Subsequent to this elevation phase, partial deflation is executed on the airbags positioned at the vessel's stern, followed by the application of a modest propulsive force to the hull. Such constitutes the procedural framework for airbag-assisted vessel launching.
Vessel launching is universally recognized as a highly intricate endeavor within the shipbuilding sector. Inland watercraft and coastal vessels predominantly adopt two launching methodologies: rail-borne slipway propulsion and airbag-roll launching. Rail-borne slipway launching mandates the construction of dedicated slipways or docking basins, with its prohibitive cost structure confining its utilization exclusively to large-scale shipbuilding yards. By contraries, marine airbags have garnered substantial 青睐 among small and medium-sized shipyards, attributable to their minimal upfront capital outlay and extensive operational versatility.
Presently, this airbag-centric launching technology is extensively deployed in vessel launching and berthing operations across numerous Asian and American nations. Empirical statistics demonstrate that upwards of 80% of newly constructed vessels with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of less than 60,000 metric tons utilize marine airbags for their launching process. A hallmark attribute of airbag-assisted launching lies in its exceptional operational flexibility: any level terrain featuring a gentle gradient can be repurposed as an impromptu launching ramp. Moreover, marine airbags are capable of facilitating vessel launches from riverbanks or seacoasts that stand one to two meters above the waterline.

Marine Airbags Material and Structure
The Luhang marine airbag for ship launching features a designed structure consisting of five functional rubber membranes. It is manufactured using patented whole enlacing technology, ensuring no joints on the cylindrical body and hemispherical heads.
- Outer and inner rubber layer: The outer layer safeguards the underlying layers from abrasion and external forces. It possesses adequate tensile and tearing strength
. - Synthetic-tire-cord layer for reinforcement: Reinforcement cord layers made of synthetic tire cord are arranged at optimal angles to hold internal pressure and evenly distribute stress, providing strong reinforcement.
- End fittings: Comprise air tightness swivel and safety air inlet. The airbag has a cylindrical body and two conical heads, equipped with metal bushings and plugs for air inflation.

Size and Performance of our Marine Airbag
Ship launching airbags can be customized in various sizes and layers depending on ship size, weight, and launching or docking conditions.
The effective length is ideally equal to the ship's breadth or 1 meter shorter. We can produce airbags from 5m to 24m in length.
The diameter is chosen according to ship size and work requirements. Larger ships need bigger airbags, and small boats can use smaller ones. For ship bottom cleaning or repair, bigger airbags enable workers to work more comfortably. Diameters of 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m, or 2.5m are suitable for large ships.
More layers mean greater bearing capacity. To lift a ship to a certain height, sufficient airbags with enough layers are needed. Generally, 6-layer airbags are sufficient for most projects. In some demanding cases, 7 - 8 layers may be required for enhanced performance, such as when lifting heavy caissons with limited contact area, which needs higher pressure and more plies for safety.
Proper selection of marine airbags is crucial for marine projects. Gaining basic knowledge of airbag selection and consulting manufacturers can help complete projects quickly. Here's a chart for the bearing capacity of several sizes.
