Yokohama Pneumatic Rubber-Cord Fenders

Yokohama pneumatic rubber-cord fenders are extremely popular in the maritime industry. These fenders serve two important functions: they are often used as floating buffers in seaports, providing reliable protection for vessels during berthing and docking. They also play a key role in ship-to-ship operations, preventing potential damage to ships. Fenders with tire covers are the most common type of pneumatic fender and are equipped with a so-called "net." This "net" consists of car or truck tires secured with horizontal and vertical chains in a mesh pattern to the fender body (aircraft tires are also permitted). The tire mesh provides additional protection for the fender body. On both sides, the chains are secured to the flanges and towing eyes with lug nuts. The horizontal and vertical chains, towing eyes, lug nuts, and swivel joints are galvanized to prevent corrosion. The chains are covered with rubber boots to prevent damage to the vessel's hull. Towing rings, flanges, and swivel joints can be made of stainless steel upon customer request.

Tire mesh protection: This fender features a unique "mesh" design. The mesh consists of passenger car or truck tires (aircraft tires can also be used upon request) assembled into a grid using horizontal and vertical chains. This tire mesh significantly increases the level of protection for the fender hull. For example, when large vessels are moored, the tire mesh can absorb and distribute impact loads, reducing the risk of damage to the fender.

Fastening components: On both sides of the fender, the chains are securely fastened to the flanges and towing eyes with lug nuts. The horizontal and vertical chains, as well as the towing eyes, lug nuts, and swivel joints, are galvanized. This galvanizing process effectively prevents corrosion, ensuring a long fender life, even in harsh marine conditions. Furthermore, the chains are covered with rubber boots to prevent possible damage to the vessel or other structures during operation. Alternatively, the towing eyes, flanges, and swivel joints can be made of stainless steel for increased durability.
